Job description
Malander is seeking an experienced Accountant for an exciting opportunity based in Durban. The ideal candidate must be immediately available and ready to take ownership of the full finance function.This role requires a hands-on professional with strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full finance function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
Prepare and process month-end and year-end journals.
Perform bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Prepare VAT submissions and ensure tax compliance.
Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes.
Monitor cash flow and assist with working capital management.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance (essential).
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an accounting role.
Proven experience managing the full finance function.
Immediate availability (non-negotiable).
Strong understanding of IFRS and local tax regulations.
Experience working on ERP/accounting systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability.
