    Description

    Academic Programme Leader - School of Global Tourism and Hospitality

    Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Academic Programme Leader to lead the School of Global Tourism and Hospitality. The successful candidate will have expertise in programme management, leadership, and academic governance.

    Main Responsibilities

    1. Develop and implement programme strategies aligned with MANCOSA's vision, mission, and goals.
    2. Establish and maintain a strong programme philosophy that aligns with the institution's values.
    3. Design and manage teaching and learning strategies to ensure high-quality academic experiences.
    4. Collaborate with marketing and student enrolment teams to promote programme value propositions.
    5. Manage programme planning and administration, working closely with the Institutional Planning Department.
    6. IDentify and appoint suitable academics for content development, delivery, and assessment.
    7. Ensure quality control of programme information on the website and prospectus.
    8. Prepare and plan Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) placements as applicable.
    9. Manage semesterly admissions in line with enrolment plans.
    10. Apply programme and institutional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and rules.
    11. Facilitate webinars and inductions for academic staff.
    12. Promote community engagement initiatives and activities.
    13. Provide career guidance and support students through their academic lifecycle.
    14. Analyse and report on programme performance data, including trend analysis and benchmarking.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential qualification: Postgraduate degree specialising in Tourism and Hospitality (NQF Level 8).

    Key Requirements

    A minimum of 3 years' experience in higher education or academia, with a strong background in programme management and leadership.

    1. Demonstrate high-quality academic knowledge and expertise in Tourism and Hospitality.
    2. Proven leadership and decision-making skills.
    3. Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
    4. Ability to analyse and interpret data, create concepts, and execute plans.
    5. Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to adapt to changing environments.

    Advantages

    2. Experience in Learner Management System administration/coordination.
    3. Strong academic management background.
