    Description

    Civil Infrastructure Design Engineer

    Monitor the progress and performance of project discipline teams, providing feedback and support, and managing design scope changes.

    A high level of technical competence in core engineering theory from first principles is required to extend this theory to new and complex problems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Project Monitoring & Support: Provide timely updates on project discussions and achievements, while ensuring all project correspondence is recorded and progress reports are produced.
    2. Technical & Commercial Oversight: Drive professional development of team members by assessing staff suitability and recommending additional manning as needed.
    3. Team & Resource Management: Set and review man-hour budgets, allocate work, and provide direction on design quality, schedules, and budgets.
    4. Reporting & Documentation: Conduct design group meetings and review feasibility studies, tenders, and contractor documentation to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.

    Requirements:

    • B. Tech. / B.Eng. Civil Engineering degree
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
    • Minimum 10-15 years civil infrastructure design experience in the mining and minerals industry
    • Detailed engineering of roads, terracing, stormwater, ponds, and network analysis of water and sewer pipelines
    • Detailed engineering of non-process facilities (offices, change houses, temporary and permanent housing facilities, etc.)
    • Site experience: construction
    • Understanding of South African and common International standards and regulatory authority requirements in the mining and minerals processing sector

    Estimated Salary:

    R850,000 - R1,200,000 per annum
