With a total of 21 stores and a commitment to providing high-quality products to our customers, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Food Safety, Risk, and Compliance Manager to join our team.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our operations meet the highest standards of food safety, risk management, and compliance with relevant regulations.


Job Overview:


As the Food Safety, Risk, and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive food safety, risk management, and compliance programs across all our retail butchery stores.

Your primary objective will be to safeguard our customers' health and well-being, protect our brand reputation, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement food safety policies and procedures: Establish robust food safety protocols, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) for food handling, storage, and preparation, to mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Conduct regular inspections and audits:
Perform routine inspections and audits of each store to evaluate compliance with food safety standards, identifying areas for improvement, and taking proactive measures to address any issue

  • Training and education: Train employees on proper food handling techniques, sanitation practices, and relevant regulations. Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to raise awareness and ensure consistent adherence to food safety protocols.
  • Risk assessment and management: Identify potential risks and hazards in the food production and preparation processes. Implement effective risk management strategies to minimize the likelihood of incidents and accidents, ensuring the safety of employees and customers.

Compliance monitoring:
Stay up-to-date with local regulations. Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and update internal policies and procedures accordingly to maintain compliance across all stores.

  • Incident response and investigation: Develop protocols for managing food safety incidents, including customer complaints, product recalls, and potential foodborne illness outbreaks. Conduct thorough investigations to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
  • Supplier and vendor management: Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure that suppliers and vendors meet the necessary food safety standards. Conduct audits and evaluations of suppliers' compliance with food safety regulations, and take appropriate action when deficiencies are identified.
  • Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food safety practices, inspections, audits, and incidents. Prepare regular reports and analysis to communicate performance, compliance, and improvement opportunities to senior management. Stock control and procurement of cleaning chemicals, and cleaning equipment with a monthly ordering system, and strict budget controls.
  • Good communication skills with suppliers, and service providers.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science. A relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety, risk management, and compliance, preferably in the meat industry.
  • Indepth knowledge of local regulations and standards.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) principles and food safety management systems.
  • Experience in conducting food safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to educate and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities to identify risks, develop solutions, and make datadriven decisions.
  • Certification in Food Safety (e.g., Certified Professional-Food Safety, HACCP Manager) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel regularly to different store locations across the country. Own a car and a valid driver's license.
