- Conduct fault diagnosis to ensure cranes are thoroughly evaluated per established procedures, isolate issues, and recommend actions to minimize downtime.
- Perform detailed inspections, breakdowns, and repairs promptly and in accordance with service contracts or other specifications.
- Accurately identify faults and issues requiring repairs during inspections.
- Advise on necessary maintenance and/or modifications to enhance cranes and equipment.
- Prepare comprehensive and precise inspection reports in line with company templates, ensuring they are signed by clients and other responsible parties.
- Assess work areas properly and ensure work is conducted following accepted safety protocols.
- Gather customer feedback on product design, operation, maintenance, warranty performance, and safety.
- Adhere to safety protocols on both company and client premises.
- Compile and maintain safety documentation as required by regulatory, compliance, and customer standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas.
- Ensure timely and accurate administration of relevant documentation, including service or inspection reports, timesheets, and orders.
- Communicate equipment issues or potential improvements promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- May provide guidance to assistant service technicians on assigned tasks and responsibilities requiring collaboration.
- Trade qualification (NQF level 3) in electrical or millwright.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 4 - 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and comprehend technical data.
- Proficient in using hand tools and trade-specific tools.
- Experience with overhead cranes.
- Familiarity with Inverter Drives and PLCs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and at heights.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally for operational needs.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proactive in thinking about profit and loss.
- Responsive to customer needs.
- Accountable and performance-driven.
- Capable of making timely, informed, and effective decisions.

The Industrial Service division focuses on providing service solutions and maintenance for all crane brands, port equipment, and machine tools. This includes the repair, maintenance, and servicing of our clients' lifting equipment, service inspection contracts, refurbishment and modernization projects, as well as the installation, testing, and certification of overhead cranes and hoists. We are the original service provider for both Konecranes and Demag equipment.
Currently, we are seeking a Service Technician to join our team. This role will involve executing and supporting inspections, repairs, modernizations, and installations on cranes and related components and equipment, excluding those requiring compliance inspection by an accredited individual.
