    Description

    Job Title: Professional Civil Engineer

    In a leading engineering consulting firm in Durban, South Africa, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Professional Civil Engineer to join our team. As a Civil Engineer in the consulting industry, you will be responsible for providing innovative solutions and technical expertise to clients in various sectors such as infrastructure development, transportation, water resources, and environmental projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • We conduct site investigations and assessments to gather data and determine project feasibility, creating comprehensive reports for stakeholders.
    • We prepare detailed engineering designs, calculations, and specifications that meet or exceed industry standards.
    • We manage and oversee the construction process, ensuring compliance with design plans and specifications, maintaining open communication with clients and contractors.
    • We collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to achieve common goals.
    • We perform quality control checks and reviews to ensure accuracy and adherence to applicable codes and standards, upholding excellence in our work.
    • We provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.
    • We participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations, helping to drive the company's success.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
    • Registration with the ECSA as a professional engineer (Pr Eng/Pr Tech) is mandatory.
    • A minimum of 10 years of consulting experience as a Civil Engineer, with 5 years preregistration and 5 years post-registration, is preferred.
    • Experience in civil projects and structural design is essential.
    • Experience with running projects and leading design teams is highly valued.
    • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards is necessary.
    • Proficiency in engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, Prokon and/or other relevant software; Revit would be beneficial.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects is essential.
