Project Manager Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead and manage projects in the automotive industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing project strategies, providing leadership to project teams, and achieving/exceeding annual project plans in accordance with individual project budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop the project's strategic plan and ensure its implementation.

Provide leadership to the project teams and achieve/exceed the annual project plan in accordance with individual project budgets.

Identify opportunities for improvements with internal and external customers and propose alternative solutions.

Conduct project feasibility studies to establish the viability of proposed projects and contribute to project initiation, scope definition, and scope change control.

Schedule project activities to facilitate effective project execution and identify, organize, and coordinate project life cycle phases for control purposes.

Approve internal and external drawings and support the project environment and activities to deliver project objectives.

Contribute to the management of project risk within own field of expertise and identify, suggest, and implement corrective actions to improve the quality of project work.

Evaluate and improve the project team's performance and commission machines and equipment or pilot and test new/existing products.

Implement project administration processes according to requirements and conduct project documentation management to support project processes.

Initiate and approve project policies, procedures, protocols, work instructions, codes of practice, etc.

Conduct research and development of new/existing technologies/plant/products and benchmark project processes and systems against best practices.

Manage continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen, Quality Circles, Six Sigma, Standardised Work, and VA/VE (Value Added/Value Engineered).

Compile project reports and presentations and provide input into the budget process.

Monitor performance against budget (expense controls, variances, etc.) and initiate requests for CAPEX/Disposal/Transfers.

Requirements:

A recognized qualification from a registered institution (such as PMI) in the field of project management.

Minimum 5 years in a project management role in the automotive industry.

Certification as a project manager will be a distinct advantage.

Bachelor's degree/national diploma in business and project management or engineering.

Grade 12/matric.
