    We are seeking highly skilled Assistant Diesel Technicians to join our team at General Heavy Marine (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town.


    The ideal candidate will possess mechanical certification and trade test or relevant qualification, with a strong background in diesel technology and experience working on heavy machinery such as forklifts, reach stackers, and bulldozers.


    Duties and Responsibilities:



    • Repairing, servicing, and conducting maintenance of heavy machinery

    • Performing initial visual inspections

    • Performing preventative Maintenance

    • Trouble-shooting systems and equipment

    • Adhering to deadlines and targets

    • Ensuring safety is adhered to in all tasks

    • Daily reporting of breakdowns to senior technician and on relevant group chats

    • Completion of job cards and providing feedback to operations manager in writing


    Requirements:



    • Mechanical certification and trade test or relevant qualification

    • Driver's License

    • At least 1-2 years working experience in a similar field

    • Ability to follow health and safety regulations

    • Familiarity with technical concepts, port machinery, and operating systems

    • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics


    Skills:



    • Complex problem solving and critical thinking

    • Interpersonal Skills-ability to communicate effectively with other technicians

    • Time management and planning skills

    • Adaptable and flexible with excellent ability to multitask
