The Motus Retail division has a Sustainability & Risk Specialist opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced professional.


Position Overview:


The Sustainability and Risk Specialist plays a crucial role in managing reporting, delivery of existing and new sustainability projects and managing risk and compliance routines within the division.

Your responsibilities will include assessing our environmental impact, identifying areas for improvement, and devising strategies to enhance how we perform from a sustainability perspective.


You will collaborate with various divisions to integrate sustainable practices into business operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.

Additionally, you will engage stakeholders, raise awareness about sustainability issues, and drive continuous improvement efforts.

Specific Role Responsibilities:


Key accountabilities for Sustainability Scope

  • Track, analyse and review our consumption of water, electricity and fuel and waste generation reported by the dealerships in the division identifying key sustainability priorities and establish targets for improvement.
  • Oversee sustainability reporting, ensuring alignment with company guidelines, trends, stakeholder input and concerns, and group strategy. Establish KPIs to track sustainability performance and monitor progress towards goals, analyze trends, and prepare regular reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Lead and collaborate with crossfunctional teams to implement initiatives that drive positive environmental and social outcomes to ensure that Group targets are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of sustainability projects and track their efficiency by performing internal and external benchmarking.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements to enhance sustainability performance and recommend and lead changes to close strategic gaps in line with the identified opportunities, site requirements, identified trends and benchmarking.
  • Serve as the central point of contact between the Group Sustainability Team and dealerships in the division. Gather feedback, foster collaboration and build partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver projects to increase internal and external stakeholder engagement, awareness and commitment to sustainability in line with the group's sustainability goals.
  • Manage and report on green projects in conjunction with the Properties team and collaborate with the procurement team to integrate sustainability criteria into purchasing decisions by evaluating suppliers based on environmental and social performance, and advocate for sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Conduct research on ways to reduce our consmuption and recycled content to generate rebates where applicable and regulatory compliance requirements that may impact the dealership operations. Stay uptodate with emerging trends and best practices.
  • Deliver training programs to educate employees about sustainability principles, practices, and goals. Promote a culture of environmental responsibility and encourage participation in sustainability initiatives.

Key accountabilities for Risk Scope

  • Analyse, report and provide input into decisions regarding risk mitigation strategies within the risk portfolio.
  • Manage compliance as our strategy adjusts and the division develops.
  • Facilitate monitoring and reporting on the division's contribution to the Group's Governance, Risk and Compliance framework.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety compliance for all dealerships is reported on and that audits are performed in the financial year.
  • Support the division's dealerships with their adherance to complying with legislative and audit requirements.
  • Identify areas of risk and implement policies and procedures that close the gaps.
  • Work with the division's to develop and implement riskreducing projects and initiatives.
  • Develop materials and documentation including minimum standards, templates, guidelines, FAQ's and processes.
  • Ensure that Business continuity plans and Disaster Recovery plans are updated regularly and reported on within the cycle.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelors Degree in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in a similar role in sustainability, environmental compliance, and data analysis.
  • Strong project management experience, including the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate sustainability initiatives.
