    Job Description

    The Senior Director, Tax Planning will play a crucial role in shaping our financial future by ensuring accurate financial reporting and forecasting for all income tax matters.

    This leader will be responsible for managing reporting to the Head of Group Tax and overseeing income tax financial statement audits. They will also lead tax technical modeling and analysis for possible transactions, corporate transfer pricing, tax accounting method optimization, dividend planning, tax protection agreements, and proposed law changes.

    Scope of Work

    • Oversee US income tax forecasting efforts, including baseline QFR/5yr BPs and modeling overlays.
    • Determine the company's US tax provision and coordinate with the Tax Compliance team to ensure consistency between income tax returns and forecast/financial statement positions.
    • Implement strategies to minimize return-to-provision adjustments and draft technical memoranda supporting key income tax reporting positions.
    • Support the strategy and management of material income tax audits, including determination and measurement of reserves.
    • Oversee strategic tax planning, including modeling the impact on federal, state, REIT, tax reserve, debt, and partner tax covenants.
    • Determine the impact of material proposed law changes on the company's income tax profile.
    • Oversee tax accounting method and credit projects to ensure accurate forecast and reporting of tax benefits.
    • Determine dividends and withholding for all US REITs.
    • Oversee US transfer pricing exercises.
    • Manage tax protection agreements and tax indemnifications provided to or by the company.

    Requirements

    • You must be able to anticipate issues, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and lead meetings to produce results.
    • Prioritize and manage resources efficiently, including external advisors.
    • Provide guidance to staff and contribute to their tax technical development.
    • Be curious by nature and develop innovative action plans.
    • Show strong problem-solving skills and confidence dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Hold 8-10+ years of experience in a Real Estate Tax environment, with excellent tax technical skills and understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
    • Have an MBA and/or CPA (inactive is ok), with experience in a BIG 4 or large publicly traded environment.
    • Exhibit excellent communication, negotiation, and concise grammatical skills.
    • Show a strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
    • Display a strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects, as well as follow through skills.
    • Work well with others in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and dynamic environment.

    Compensation

    $182,000 - $240,000 + Discretionary Annual Bonus
