    Description

    Job Title:

    Process Engineer

    This is a key role within the company, focusing on eliminating waste, driving continuous improvement, ensuring health and safety, and upholding quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Elimination of Waste:

    • Support the development and implementation of Manufacturing Excellence (ME) plans to reduce waste and improve efficiency on production lines.
    • Analyze lost time and problem-solving analysis to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to meet ME objectives.
    • Monitor and reduce costs associated with poor quality through ME and Total Quality Management (TQM) processes.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Closure of engineering-related problem-solving activities to ensure the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
    • Ensure that improvement targets are met and budgeted improvements in materials and overtime are planned, measured, and achieved.
    • Support A3 problem-solving activities to eliminate waste and improve production within controlled areas.
    • Maintain 5S standards and plan improvement activities for new production facilities.

    Health and Safety:

    • Comply with all applicable compliance obligations and provide a safe working environment.
    • Advise on proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for facility requirements.

    Quality Company Engineering:

    • Meet or exceed customer quality requirements by ensuring products meet specifications, standards, and requirements for new and existing components.
    • Risk-Based Thinking: Identify risks affecting quality for new and existing products and implement actions to mitigate risks.
    • Analyze part data from design through production to ensure targets are met.
    • Approve manufacturing processes for production and ensure jigs, fixtures, and processes are brought off and approved.
    • Assist in trial activities and ensure manufacturing processes adhere to quality requirements.

    Delivery:

    • Manage scrap initiatives to eliminate/reduce waste and improve process efficiency.
    • Optimize production lines to meet customer demand and quoted versus actual performance.
    • Evaluate and mitigate RISK using Risk-Based Thinking.
    • Support cross-functional project teams to ensure customer requirements are met and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is implemented.
    • Escalate process concerns to the correct team immediately.
    • Deliver manufacturing processes on time to Production and ensure they run as per the production schedule.
    • Provide technical assistance to Technical Inspection Engineers during the Machinery Performance Test (MPT) process.
    • Involve in new and current projects, ensuring process implementation complies with agreed timing and cost parameters.

    Attendance:

    • Ensure personal attendance is 98% on an ongoing basis, vital for the successful running of the plant.

    People Development:

    • Responsible for own personal development in line with company strategy.
    • Adhere to HR policies and procedures.
    • Conduct and evaluate On-the-Job Training (OJT) to ensure team members are adequately trained.
    • Mentor, manage, and develop junior engineers.

    General:

    • Carry out all reasonable instructions and tasks issued by the Process Engineering Manager.

    Competencies and Attributes Required:

    • Technical skills and specialist knowledge:
      • Computer literacy (MS Office).
      • Problem-solving tools.
      • Risk-based thinking.
      • Ability to interpret technical drawings.
      • Manufacturing processes (Press tooling, Injection moulding, Robotic Welding, Resistance Welding, Coatings, Orbital Riveting, Assembly processes).
      • Hand and workshop tools.
      • Cad Software Fabrication Skills.

    Job Requirements:

    • Grade 12 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Five years' experience in a production engineering environment.
    • Experience in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.
    • Root Cause Analysis.
    • Use of Measuring Equipment.
    • Project management experience.
    • Process engineering experience.
    • Press tooling, Injection moulding, Robotic Welding, Resistance Welding, Coatings, Orbital Riveting, Assembly processes.
    • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing junior engineers.
