    Principal Engineer Position

    Job Summary

    A Principal Engineer position is available in the Process Design Group. The successful candidate will lead complex projects, conduct research in heap leaching and treatment of mine effluents and solid wastes, and supervise junior staff.

    About the Role

    This is a permanent position based in Randburg, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering and 5-10 years of experience in related fields.

    The role involves leading research projects, supervising junior staff, and providing instruction on complex projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and managing risks, working independently, and providing guidance to subordinates.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead complex research projects, ensuring high levels of integration and specialised knowledge and skills.
    • Conduct research on heap leaching of precious and base metal resources and treatment of mine effluents and solid wastes.
    • Supervise junior staff, provide instruction, and guide them on complex projects.
    • Assess and manage risks, work independently, and make decisions.
    • Responsible for significant equipment and facilities.

    Requirements

    • PhD in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering.
    • 5-10 years of experience in related fields.
    • Exposure to bioprocesses, especially bioleaching, and mine water and waste challenges, treatment, and value recovery.

    Salary Information

    The salary for this position is market-related.
