PURPOSE:
We looking for a Transport Manager to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods, while staying in line with policies and regulations in the handling and convening of dangerous goods.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Planning and managing transportation and customer services
- Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
- Plan routes and process collections and deliveries
- Resolve any arising problems or complaints
- Directing, optimizing and coordinating full cycle of deliveries, collections process
- Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, processing plants and customers
- Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services, in consultation with the General Manager, Plant / Branch Managers and Logistics Manager
- Manage, coach and train Transport Department employees
- Organize training sessions for employees (e.g. proper use of machines and handling of hazardous material.
- Manage budgets, costs, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
- Schedule daily and weekly routes
- Track orders using functional systems (e.g. barcodes and tracking software)
- Coordinate with Warehouse to ensure proper storage and distribution of products
- Ensure delivery and collection (Manifests) documents are properly processed and filed
- Research, recommend and implement costeffective transport, processes and methods
- Conduct regular safety audits on equipment and vehicles.
- Manage maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
- Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed order, deliveries and collections
- Ensure compliance and development of policies for the department in line with the relevant legislation and procedures.
- Stay uptodate with safety regulations
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric with a relevant tertiary degree in Supply Chain or Logistics
- At least 25 years relevant working experience
- Computer literate (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Working knowledge with software such as CarTrack or Key Fleet will be advantageous
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
- Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
- Ability to supervise and train staff.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license
Salary:
R R45.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Atlantis,
Western Cape:
Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- Diploma (preferred)
Experience:
- transport management: 5 years (preferred)
- full knowledge of large fleet vehicle management: 3 years (preferred)
- warehousing: 3 years (preferred)
