Key Requirements

Degree in Accounting is essential for this role.
Completed SAICA articles and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior financial position are mandatory.
A proven track record of managing and leading high-performing teams, coupled with strategic planning and execution skills, is required.
Familiarity with contracting, accounting, budgeting, and cost control processes is necessary.
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, as well as state financial regulations, is crucial.
Analytical skills to interpret data and prepare comprehensive financial reports, statements, and projections are essential.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously are necessary.

Key Performance Areas

Planning

Assist in shaping the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
Maintain oversight of strategic business plan implementation and develop financial and tax strategies in consultation with external auditors.
Manage capital requests and budgeting processes effectively.
Establish performance measures that align with the company's strategic objectives.

Operations

Participate in executive management team decision-making.
Oversee the accounting department's activities.
Negotiate with third-party service providers.
Supervise acquisition due diligence and ensure compliance with generally accepted auditing standards.

Financial Information

Ensure timely issuance of accurate financial information.
Provide regular financial updates to the board of directors.
Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to inform business leaders.
Evaluate financial statements to identify potential weaknesses.

Risk Management

Understand and mitigate key risk elements affecting the company.
Monitor legal issues and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Develop and monitor effective control systems.
Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks.
Build and maintain relationships with external auditors and implement their recommendations.
Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, account maintenance, and data entry.

Funding and Third Parties

Monitor cash balances and forecasts to inform funding decisions.
Facilitate debt and equity financing arrangements.
Nurture banking relationships to secure optimal funding opportunities.
