Petra Diamonds is a leading independent diamond mining group and an increasingly important supplier of rough diamonds to
the international market. The position is based in Gauteng (close to OR Tambo airport)

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Executive, the role is responsible for the overall finalising of Petra diamond

production assortments and presentation to the Sales and Marketing Executive. Responsible for the management of the Diamond
Sorter Supervisor and Senior Diamond Sorters.


Responsibilities:

Execute the Sales and Marketing strategy, systems and programs required.

Innovate and initiate the improvement of departmental processes and procedures to achieve area and Petra objectives.

Responsible to implement any changes to the diamond sorting process in order to meet deadlines as instructed by the Sales
and Marketing Executive.

Takes final responsibility of production and quality assurance prior to presentation to Sales and Marketing Executive.

Responsible for production sorting.

Provide expert Diamond Sorting and Quality Control advice on Industry Best Practice and keep abreast of latest developments
in area of expertise.

Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation Review:
Implement programs, standards and controls, guidelines and schedules. Identify
deviations to standards through appropriate work processes.

Responsible for production reporting and team performance to the Sales and Marketing Executive and other relevant
stakeholders.

Risk Management & Liabilities:
Participate in a sustainable process to identify, assess and rank Diamond Sorting and Quality
Control risk as these relate to the business and operations, in order to promote a Diamond Sorting and Quality Control and
risk-aware culture. Ensure that any potential impact is understood, and facilitate effective decision making, Diamond Sorting
and Quality Control risk mitigation and provide this as input into the ERM program.

Risk Management and Liabilities:
Implement risk mitigations plans and controls.

Engagement and Communication:
Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication
system with the Diamond Sorting Function.

Responsible for coaching, training, and delivering structured coaching programmes for all internal employees and external
stakeholders.

Effective liaison with De Beers regarding all Petra diamond productions.

Communicate with the Sales and Marketing Executive, giving consistent and detailed feedback on the production process.

Engage with the Manager:
Sales and Marketing as necessary, providing all relevant information regarding production
deadlines.

Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non
compliance issues.

Implements and enforces relevant company systems, policies, and procedures.

Ensure the adherence to security and HSEQ protocols.

Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report
on non compliance issues.

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organisation standards and adhering to legal
regulations.

Supervision and co-ordination of the team ensuring completion of work to the required standards and deadlines.

Effectively manages the Diamond Sorter/Supervisor, providing detailed technical feedback to them.

Performance management of the Sorting Team and Diamond Supervisor, giving performance reviews and providing
documented, constructive feedback.

Ensure Management Leadership practices.

Drive organisational values that affect Petra's relationship with its employees.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12

Minimum 10 years diamond sorting experience

Advantageous: 5 years should have been in a supervisory role

Management Development Programme (MDP) or equivalent

Knowledge and experience of all sorting disciplines / methods - please indicate clearly on CV

Understanding of the diamond pipeline is required - please indicate clearly on CV

Computer Literacy in MS Office suite (Intermediate)

Required to travel locally (international if required)

Valid driver's license


Technical Competencies:

Knowledge of all sorting disciplines / methods.

Lead and work within a team, support peers and less experienced team members, to effectively deliver objectives.

Understanding of the diamond pipeline.
