Description

To assist with the management of processes that contribute towards specific programme objectives, including pipeline building, preparation, sourcing, assessment and review of applications, as well as preparing reports and submissions that contribute towards specific fund objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deal Management

• Manage the application and submission process
• Conduct basic deal assessments prior to accepting deals into the pipeline for evaluation and due diligence
• Perform deal evaluation and due diligence in accordance with current IDC definitions across all disciplines
• Ensure deals are aligned with the strategic objectives of the fund and contribute to meeting industry development goals
• Identify all risks (pre- and post-investment) and develop mitigation plans to minimize these risks
• Design and negotiate financial and legal relationships between clients and IDC for specific deals, including terms and conditions of IDC funding and rights and obligations of all parties involved
• Coordinate IDC teams and other stakeholders around transactions
• Perform post-investment management functions for a portfolio of clients
• Provide operational assistance to portfolio clients to help them become profitable and meet financial obligations to IDC

QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant commercial or technical degree with honours or equivalent financial qualification

EXPERIENCE

• 5-8 years of industry/sectors operational experience
• 2-4 years of deal origination and assessment experience
• Financial assessment and modeling experience
• Experience working with SME funding is an advantage
• Understanding of commercial implications of legal and financial decisions
• Understanding of the effects of various structures and instruments on risk and returns
