    West Coast Personnel background
    Description

    Responsible for the quality of products produced by line. Leading staff towards the achievement of overall production targets as communicated by the Supervisor.

    Requirements:

    • Matric Certificate
    • Dairyman Qualification or Cheese Making Certificate or equivalent
    • 3-5 years experience within a production environment
    • Computer literate

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that you have adequate knowledge of the production plan for shift
    • Ensure that you have adequate knowledge of staff issues/problems on shift
    • Ensure the pre-start-up steps are done in the area of responsibility and all problem areas or possible problem areas are identified and addressed
    • Ensure that all problems /possible problem areas above responsibility level are communicated to supervisors and escalated to the correct person/position
    • Ensure that all processes regarding machine pre-start-up and start-up are done (Machine operator)
    • Initiate, manage, and control the process cheese-making process
    • Ensure all HACCP documentation is completed and submitted to the department Supervisor as per SOP
    • Measure efficiency of the team members/ repartees on an on-going basis to ensure that targets and objectives are met
    • Check that areas and equipment are visually clean after following a validated cleaning procedure and ready for use as per SOP
    • Report any machine breakdowns/stoppages to the supervisor, after trying to solve problems within unit
    • Data-input is done into the appropriate system for costing purposes/ all data is checked as per SOP (e.g. Traksys)
    • Effectively respond to queries and instructions by the Quality department on shift
    • Supervise ongoing compliance, e.g. appropriate PPE and housekeeping
    • Participates and supports the implementation of Best Practices and other continuous improvement initiatives
    • Participate in the implementation of the corrective action and preventative action
