    About the Role:

    We are seeking an Investment Associate for our Rural, Township, and Community Development Fund (RTCDF Department). This position is based at our Head Office in Sandton and reports directly to the Fund Manager.

    As an Investment Associate, you will play a key role in driving investment goals, customer service, business growth, and client retention objectives in line with our mandate. You will be responsible for sourcing deals, assessing their viability, and managing the entire process from origination through to disbursement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Deal Sourcing & Assessment: Source deals, assess their viability, and prepare submission reports for the credit committee.
    • Due Diligence: Prepare submissions for Due Diligence approval, compile Due Diligence work plans, negotiate lending project term sheets, and structure deals under the supervision of the Investment Principal.
    • Post-Due Diligence: Conduct technical research and provide input on deal structures after Due Diligence approval.
    • Transaction Management: Manage transactions from application to final approval, ensuring timely processing and high standards of accountability.
    • Client Relationship Management: Establish and manage relationships with clients, financial institutions, sector players, and other counterparties for deal sourcing.
    • Product Development: Develop innovative structured finance solutions to meet client needs.
    • Analysis & Reporting: Analyze financial outcomes, define pricing strategies, and assess the development impact.
    • Negotiation & Legal Documentation: Negotiate terms with internal and external stakeholders and manage the collection of project documents.
    • Communication: Ensure clear communication with clients once deals are approved.

    Experience Required:

    • At least 3 years in SME funding, deal making, investment environments, business banking, venture capital, and/or development finance.
    • 3 years' experience in managing an SME portfolio.
    • Solid understanding of the investment process, particularly in SME funding.
    • Knowledge of investment instruments and deal structures for SME portfolios.
    • Familiarity with commercial statutes and regulations (e.g. Tax, Companies Act, BEE legislation).
    • Ability to conduct desktop analysis, risk assessments, and prepare compelling written recommendations.
    • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting financial statements.
    • Experience in due diligence appraisals.
    • Ability to generate deal flow through personal networks.
    • PC literacy and competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Credit control and collections experience.

    Qualifications:

    • B. Com Degree (Finance, Accounting, Agricultural Economics, Business Economics).
    • Experience in deal structuring and implementation.
    • Financial modelling and business valuation methodologies (preferred).
    • CA and/or MBA with an agricultural/acquisition transaction background is a plus.

    Remuneration:

    R600K – R800K per annum, total cost to company, depending on qualifications and experience.
