    Business Unit Manager - Backgrounding

    Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry position at Harvest Road Pastoral | Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry

    We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Business Unit Manager to join our team at Koojan Downs Farm, located 132km north of Perth, WA.

    The successful candidate will oversee the management of livestock, pastures, infrastructure, plant and equipment repairs and maintenance in the backgrounding business at Koojan Downs and New Norcia farms.

    Harvest Road Group is a family-owned West Australian integrated Cattle, Beef and Aquaculture business. Our operations span the entire state, from the Kimberley region in the north to Albany in the south, partnering with over 1,400 small businesses to deliver Western Australia's quality produce to customers across Australia and around the world through our lead brands Harvey Beef and Leeuwin Coast.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Oversight of daily operations, including livestock handling, pasture management, and infrastructure maintenance.
    • Leadership of a motivated team, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of the backgrounding business.
    • Development and implementation of weekly work plans, ensuring efficient use of resources and achieving business objectives.
    • Maintenance of high standards of animal welfare, safety, and bio-security.
    • Effective communication with stakeholders, including farmhands, contractors, and other business units.

    Requirements:

    • Degree in Agricultural Science or related field (desirable).
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in intensive livestock production systems.
    • Proven track record of leadership and team management.
    • Strong focus on safety, animal welfare, and bio-security standards.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines under pressure.
