    Job Description

    Operations Engineer (Senior)

    The successful candidate will be part of a global team responsible for the development and operation of our Digital Workspace, which includes Virtual Devices (VDI).

    We aim to provide virtual desktops and applications within 10 minutes to customers worldwide.

    The focus lies on delivering a scalable platform that offers high-performance virtual desktops and applications. Our service delivery encompasses all company processes within the organization.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Maintenance and operation of a global infrastructure for virtual devices.
    • Ensure smooth operation of VDI platforms.
    • Contribute to improving operational excellence through automation and proactive monitoring.
    • Collaborate with international teams, vendors, and end-users.
    • Treat security as a top priority.
    • Work closely with stakeholders and development teams to improve stability and availability of VDI platforms.
    • Integrate new features and components with other IT teams.

    Main Function

    • Responsible for operations and standardization of enterprise VDI infrastructure, platform, and desktop components.
    • Verify, plan, and execute maintenance tasks in conjunction with other infrastructure teams.
    • Continuously work on improving operational stability.
    • Automate platform operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance topics.
    • Install, configure, maintain, and deploy virtual applications and desktop images.
    • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of RDSH servers, Windows Server, and Multisession.
    • Published Application presentation layer installation, configuration, and maintenance (e.g., XenApp & Citrix Workspace).
    • Application and server hardening (e.g., Ivanti).
    • Work with application monitoring tools.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    Qualifications/Experience

    • South African citizens or residents are preferred.
    • University degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., computer science, engineering, sciences) or equivalent qualification.
    • 5+ years of operations experience with Citrix VDI and App stack.
    • Windows desktops and server support experience.
    • Windows Terminal Server experience.
    • Software packaging and image creation experience.
    • Hardware and software lifecycle experience.
    • ITIL processes experience (Problem, Incident, Change management).

    Essential Skills:

    • VMWare Horizon Cloud (preferably Next Gen) experience.
    • VMWare Workspace ONE Access and Unified Endpoint Management knowledge.
    • Microsoft Intune knowledge.
    • Scripting skills (Powershell).
    • VMWare Intelligence experience.
    • VMWare Freestyle experience.
    • Windows Servers (higher than 2016) operation experience.
    • Windows Client (Windows 10 / 11) OS troubleshooting and patch management experience.

    Advantageous Technical Skills

    • Cloud technologies and cloud providers (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services) experience.
    • Microsoft W365 experience.
    • VDI technologies (Microsoft and VMware Horizon) operation and maintenance experience.
    • Automated problem remediation.
    • Machine learning (ML) for data analytics.
    • Rest API technology understanding.
