Director, People Business Partner, Sub-Saharan Africa

Overview

  • Accountable for People & Capability management in support of the Sub-Saharan Africa geography
  • Partners with business leaders to design and implement a people strategy that advances the business and drives performance
  • Works with COEs and GBSC to ensure programs, processes and initiatives are successfully implemented and managed

Responsibilities:


  • Delivers a people strategy that supports business priorities and growth strategies for a line of business or market
  • Act as a member of the local leadership team within the 3 African clusters
  • Partners with business leaders on change management initiatives that support the business strategy and maintain employee engagement
  • Provides advice, coaching and support to executives, managers and employees on development, employee relations, workforce planning and rewards issues
  • Responsible for the management and delivery of core People and Capability programs for a large or complex business or geography
  • Partners closely with other Business Partner colleagues to ensure the consistent and seamless delivery of programs and services to the business
  • Provides indepth market insight and advises on talent implications of external trends that may have workforce implications
  • Works closely with COEs to deliver programs and customize when necessary. Shares feedback on the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
Experiences

  • Current or previous HR experience either as a generalist or specialist, with experience in consulting with senior business leaders and coaching people leaders and employees across a broad range of people topics
  • Strong business acumen coupled with efficient project management, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders within HR as well as within the internal client groups is preferred. Experience of working for a multinational organization is essential.
  • Highly motivated and a selfstarter with the ability to drive local HR agenda, manage own workloads, whilst working collaboratively with others within and out of the immediate region.
  • Welldeveloped communication and influencing skills, ability to be empathetic but also take tough, commercially focused, decisions.
  • Knowledge and experience of local employment laws and practices.
  • Strong team player can partner effectively across HR
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Meticulous nature with a strong eye for detail
