    Position Overview

    The role of the Quality Assurance Specialist is pivotal in ensuring the quality management system is effectively implemented and maintained within the Geochem Randfontein facility, aligning with ISO17025 standards, as well as adhering to the high-level procedures and global requirements set forth by SGS.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate with the highest ethical standards, in accordance with SGS integrity protocols.
    • Maintain an up-to-date testing scope, coordinating documentation and standard operating procedures to comply with laboratory ISO accreditation.
    • Analyze data within the quality framework without providing subjective opinions or interpretations.
    • Facilitate and oversee method validation processes to ensure compliance.
    • Manage the continuous improvement system while fostering relationships with technical staff, suppliers, and clients.
    • Assist in the evaluation of proficiency tests, customer feedback, audit results, and requests for enhancements.
    • Deliver training and awareness programs related to quality, conduct quality assessments, and lead management review sessions.
    • Ensure the accuracy of monthly QSHE Report contributions, statistically analyze data, and develop a document control system that meets SGS standards.
    • Provide support to laboratory staff regarding quality control, documentation practices, and reporting protocols.
    • Regularly communicate quality status updates to management while maintaining a safety-first approach.
    • Exhibit flexibility for travel, shift work, and additional hours as required.
    • Execute tasks as assigned by the direct line manager and refuse any work that poses environmental risks.
    • Contribute to scientific and technical leadership, ensuring the effectiveness of the quality assurance program.
    • Safeguard ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation, identify and address non-conformities, and prioritize customer satisfaction.
    • Report safety hazards, remain vigilant, and escalate any risks to higher management.

    Qualifications

    • BSc degree or diploma in a scientific discipline.
    • ISO or College Quality Assurance Program Diploma.

    Experience

    • A minimum of 5 years in a laboratory testing environment.
    • 5 years of experience with ISO systems, along with advanced skills in Microsoft software, documentation, and report writing.
    • Knowledge of Statistical Quality Control is advantageous.
