Continuous Improvements/LEAN Manager

R1.3m - R1.5m (Neg) plus bonus

Leading global FMCG market leader is looking for a highly experienced Manufacturing Excellence Manager.

Reporting through to the Director you will work closely with the Technical and Production Managers and be responsible for continuous improvement on systems and processes in line with LEAN principles.


  • Oversee LEAN implementation and deployment in the affiliate in accordance with the defined region/cluster LEAN+ deployment strategy, with the goal of eventually establishing an integrated operating system.
  • Contribute to the development of region/cluster LEAN+ strategies by representing the affiliate at region/cluster meetings and workshops, ensuring affiliate challenges, priorities, and initiatives are understood and incorporated into region/cluster LEAN+ plans.
  • Ensure the overall accountability and governance of the OPEN+ deployment, as well as the system's sustainability within the affiliate. Ensure that all affiliate methods, standards, and processes align with global standards and align with the region/cluster governance/deployment team.

Create an affiliate strategy and roadmap that aligns with the region/cluster LEAN+ plans in order to achieve continuous improvement in the OPEN+ journey from phase 0 to phase 3.

Assist the affiliate in establishing and maintaining an integrated operating system. Examine the organisation and processes to create efficient and effective OPEN+ plans for the affiliate.

  • Ensure proper affiliate OPEN+ organisation structure, including a strong career path, to meet LEAN objectives and plans. Ensure a talent pipeline is in place to support the affiliate's continuous improvement efforts and to ensure the sustainability of LEAN expertise and capabilities. Assist organisational leaders in driving the OPEN+ culture.
  • Review best practices on a regular basis and adjust affiliate plans to maximise people engagement in productivity generation, driving innovation, and increasing organisational agility to deliver business results in accordance with company standards and practices.

Ensure that the affiliate's operating standards are aligned with global solutions and that there is sustainable knowledge sharing on continuous improvement tools and methods, standard work processes, daily management systems, and pillars that are aligned with global standards.

Coordination of LEAN deployment training activities in the affiliate.

  • Ensure effective communication and visualisation of LEAN affiliate strategy, roadmap, and actions to ensure maximum awareness and compliance, and alignment across the affiliate organisation. Participate in communication plans with affiliate management teams and key stakeholders. Encourage the extension of global OPEN+ strategies to local external partners and other functions outside of Operations within the affiliate (e.g., commercial, finance, human resources, etc.
  • Assess workplace risks and take appropriate riskreduction measures. Organize timely trainings on safe working methods and practises for
subordinates


Qualifications and experience

  • BSc in Engineering, Science, or related
  • 10 years of manufacturing experience with 57 years of people management experience
  • Solid Project Management experience
  • Looking for manufacturing excellence
  • Advantageous: Lean certification (SIX Sigma)
