- Managing the relationship with the auditors and the external audit.
- Anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of the operational units related to financial and operational activities as required to meet organizational needs.
- Assessment and implementation of new accounting standards, including impact on financial and operational processes.
- Review of technical accounting matters and preparation of accounting papers.
- Coordination of budgeting and forecasting for all the operations.
- Overseeing and completing the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Overseeing and completing the month-end.
- All other payments are reconciled, processed, and paid timeously.
- Managing the business unit accountants.
- Assist management in instituting and maintaining proper financial controls in the business.
- Check and/or complete various statutory and tax returns, e.g., VAT
- Monitor the implementation of financial procedures to ensure that disciplines are adhered to.
- Perform the necessary authorisations required to ensure sound financial controls in all financial functions.
- Overseeing the finance departments, reviewing policies, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
- Check and sign off on general ledgers, reconciliations, and accounts.
- Liaise with auditors to ensure the annual audit is successfully completed.
- Completing tax packs for the business unit.
- Flash reporting during the month.
- Provide financial advice and support to managers.
- Assist with Customer costings and Customer queries.
- Research and report on factors influencing business performance.
- Assist with CAPEX motivations and approvals.
- Manage VAT and PAYE filings with SARS.
- Coordinate foreign currency transactions and related financial reconciliations.
- Create and maintain forecasts for cash flow.
- Ensure creditors' reconciliations are prepared and reviewed on all accounts and payments.
- BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CA would be advantageous
- Syspro experience required
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Minimum of 3 years management experience within the manufacturing/construction or mining industry
- Superior leadership capability and relationship skills
- High emotional intelligence
- Strong Reporting and financial background
- Proven track record of experience with VAT, Income Tax schedules, and problem-solving.
- Proven track record of providing commercial support in business decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Capable of thriving under tight deadlines and challenging goals.
- Advanced MS Office experience necessary (Excel specifically).
