The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is recruiting a SANTHE Project Manager.

The SANTHE Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the management of a large international multi-year science and training programme portfolio.


Overview of Duties

  • Provide key support to the SANTHE Leadership team and engage as an efficient and collaborative team member within the SANTHE secretariat.
  • Prepare progress reports and presentations as required.
  • Represent and present on behalf of SANTHE as needed.
  • Support the capture of SANTHEspecific information and help develop and maintain key databases for relevant information.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to support the implementation of an effective research and training programme throughout the network.
  • Join coapplicant site visits if requested.
  • Help identify training needs, organize and manage workshops when needed across all sites.
  • Maintain accurate records on all trainees in the network and their associated projects including records of ethics approvals.
  • Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team to ensure accurate and timely monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
  • Provide support to trainees in the network on a regular basis.
  • Ensure an Advisory Committee (AC) is in place for each trainee in the network and ensure accurate record keeping for all studentAC meetings/interactions and studentsupervisor evaluations.
  • Help identify additional sources of financial support for the network in order to support the longterm goals of the network.
  • Lead key aspects of the SANTHE programme/manage specific subprojects.
  • Liase with the AHRI Grants and Finance Officers to help ensure that all the terms and conditions of the award are met.
  • Facilitate key meetings with various SANTHE stakeholders as and when needed.
  • Facilitate the SANTHE Trainee Recruitment process and provide key assistance throughout the Fellowship periods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in biological or health sciences

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years data management experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years project management experience.
  • Experience of preparing and managing budgets.
  • Experience organizing symposia and scientific courses would be an advantage.
  • Evidence of successful student supervision or cosupervision (or similar experience) would be an advantage.

Advantageous

  • PhD and postdoctoral experience would be an advantage.

Skills Required:


  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Accuracy and precision.
  • High computer literacy.
  • Report writing.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Understanding of good clinical practices
