Description

The Senior Manager:

High Performance has the responsibility for leading and managing the operations of a multidisciplinary team for a select group of sport programmes, with a focus on maximizing athlete performance.

The Senior High-Performance Manager also co-ordinates corporate and business planning and reporting requirements across the high-performance management team and ensures that policies and processes are implemented consistently across sport programmes.


Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Create the overall highperformance strategy, policies and procedures for Wits Sport
  • Manage High Performance fulltime/part time staff and specialists/experts
  • Responsible for analysand and reporting on all performance data
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for sport clubs and participants (high performance, competitive and recreational)
  • Implement and constantly refine and Elite Sporting System per High Performance Code
  • Actively drive and implement the High-Performance Culture at Wits Sport
  • Ensure sound management of all sport codes at Wits University

Requirements:


  • Postgraduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Sport Science or Sport Management or related field
  • A total of 8 years proven track record managing a highperformance sport code/team
  • Structured sports management (minimum at junior provincial level)
  • Prior as a content manager

Advantageous

  • Auditing experience of the sport industry in public or private domain
  • Sport or club management experience at a tertiary institution or national federations
  • Ability to provide strategic direction in the everincreasing professional commercial sport environment
