The Franschhoek Wine Tram is one of the most well-known businesses in the South African tourism sector.


Franschhoek Wine Tram is a hop-on hop-off tour that offers passengers a unique and leisurely way to experience the Franschhoek Valley.

The tour takes passengers through rolling vineyards in a magnificent double-deck railway tram and an open-air tram bus, stopping at some of South Africa's oldest and most distinguished wine estates.

The tour offers unparalleled views of the valley and vineyards. This on-site full-time role is located in Franschhoek.


Role Description


The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Franschhoek Wine Tram's daily operations in deliverying service to guests.

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing a wide variety of teams and will work closely with other departments to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer service delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Coordination: Efficient utilisation of assets in accordance with established SOPs to deliver service at a consistent and acceptable level for both business, guests, and employees. This includes but is not limited to the multimodal fleet comprising of rolling stock (i.e., Trams), road transport vehicles (i.e., Tram-busses, taxi-busses, etc...), and various others.

Business Operations: Manage the running of the business operations. Achieved through the effective co-ordination of various teams, ranging from the Control Room, Hosts/Ambassadors, Ticket Office staff, Drivers, Cleaners, and others.

Facilities Preparation: Ensure the relevant teams have prepared the facilities each day for the receipt of guests and employees. Issues identified or require attention for the F&F Manager to be handed over and communicated.

Reporting: Daily generation of reports associated with running of service. Includes but not limited to on/off, wine, cash-up, etc...

Efficiency Optimisation: Continuously improve operational processes, find cost-effective solutions, and ensure the smooth flow of service offerings across a broad business.

Compliance:Ensure operational compliance and adhere to legal, safety, and industry regulations. (RSR, OHSACT, BCEA, etc...)

HR: Adminsitrative management, hiring and dealing with disciplinary matters for members of the department.


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Bachelors in commerce or a related field. (Advantageous)
  • 810 years experience in operations, logistics, fleet management, or related field.
  • Hands on approach to managing and leading operations teams
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of successfully leading teams.
  • Excellent problemsolving abilities and the capability to optimize logistics operations.
  • Knowledge of safety, compliance, and industry regulations.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.
  • Relocation to Franschhoek, or the surrounding wine valley region.
