Job Requirements:

  • A Masters in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or any related qualification with at least 8 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in operating highend equipment such as Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS), Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectrometry.
  • Advanced skills in metabolomics, proteomics, chemometrics will be an added advantage.

Duties:


  • Teaching operating principles on highend instruments
  • Compile standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring that practicals conducted comply with required academic and other standards by compiling practical manuals for approval by the relevant lecturer.
  • Conducting practicals in accordance with requirements of syllabus by presenting relevant practical's, ensuring that all students participate in
practical's, assisting students with solving practical problems.

  • Conduct evaluation of students' academic progress by marking practical reports and giving practical tests
  • Submitting practical marks on time for compilation of semester marks.
  • Enhance knowledge and skills in own field by participating in research projects, ensuring that analysis conducted for research purposes are done in a professional manner to ensure quality of the results obtained.
  • Provide analytical services to internal and external clients.
  • Generate research outputs (articles, book chapters, conference proceedings)
  • Participates in University, Faculty and Departmental community engagement programmes.
  • Contributes to departmental administration by preparing and submitting laboratory and field practical requirements as well as other materials ordered for the department.
  • Getting quotations and making orders for materials to be purchased and submitting them to procurement department and ensure that they are collected upon purchase. This involves liaising with finance department for approvals.
  • Monitoring of daytoday laboratory activities
  • Responsible for laboratory facilities, equipment accessories and chemical storage and responsible for laboratory cleanliness and safety
