Purpose of the Job:

Reporting to the Head: Asset Management, the successful incumbent is accountable for discussing the financial requirements for "THE CLIENT" and providing appropriate financial advice to the Fund executives.


Key Performance Areas

Strategic Investment Asset Management

  • Manage the development and implementation of the investment team in setting data manipulation to state of modelling future projections.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate modelling method deterministic and/or stochastic.
  • Manage the setting and implementation of projection/modelling assumptions.
  • Guide the development of reports on required funding from National Treasury and demonstrating period required by "THE CLIENT" to ensure liquidity.
  • Guide the development and implementation of models demonstrating solvency positions with different funding strategies and provide reports to the Head.
  • Ensure an interface with the Investment Committee and recommend new and changes to existing investment policies and submit it for approval.

Corporate Banking

  • Manage the discussion of the Fund's financial needs with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Guide the provision of financial advice where appropriate for the effective functioning of the Fund.
  • Ensure the development of lending agreements that include but are not limited to credit, treasury services, financing and commercial services.

Portfolio Management

  • Manage the assessment, measurement and management of risks in various portfolios and support portfolio pipeline management and ensure alignment of portfolios to the Investment strategy.
  • Contribute to the review of performance of investment portfolios and prepare required reports for management in accordance with company policies.
  • Manage the transfer of asset/portfolio return to the finance department.

Reporting

  • Ensure preparation and submission of Regulation reports.
  • Report quarterly on progress with implementation of operational plans.
  • Ensure development of functional reporting systems, project or performance reporting for management.
  • Ensure the development of reports/ policies/ procedures and guide the process through the alignment of these documents to the overall "THE CLIENT"'s Strategy.

Strategy Development and Operational Planning

  • Provide input into the development of the Corporate Banking business strategy and plan that ensure alignment with shortterm and longterm objectives.
  • Provide input into the development, implementation and annual review of an overall Strategic Plan for the Corporate Banking department.
  • Oversee and guide the implementation of the Corporate Banking plan as approved, including as appropriate any special tasks or projects requested by management.

Policy Review and Implementation

  • Provide advice and guidance to the Policy department on legislative compliance, emerging issues, risks and the implementation of changes required on policy matters.

Financial Management

  • Ensure that the periodic financial and strategic goals of "THE CLIENT" as well as the performance expectations of the various teams are achieved.
  • Report and review operations financial and nonfinancial goals.
  • Ensure sufficient internal control measures are implemented for adherence to PFMA, "THE CLIENT" and other relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Manage, monitor and control the department expense budget.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain proactive and progressive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Engage with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate with all levels of relevant stakeholder contact.
  • Delegate inquiries and requests for information from both internal and external stakeholders

People Management

  • Ensure the motivation, cohesiveness, and alignment of the organization's team members.
  • Ensure Implementation of human capital processes and procedures to control/regulate workplace conflict and/or institute corrective measures and consultation processes to address deviations from standards.
  • Manage and monitor performance of the team and implement corrective actions for poor performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree/ Advanced Diploma in a Financial Management/ an Investment Management/ an Accounting/ a Risk Management related qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a Financial Management/ an Investment Management/ an Accounting/ a Risk Management related qualification.
  • Relevant years' experience in a corporate banking related environment of which 3 years must have been on a management level/area of expertise.
