    Job Description

    As a Senior Legal Advisor, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and guidance on corporate commercial matters, including drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. You will also oversee the investigation of litigious matters, assess the feasibility of proceeding with legal action, and consult with business representatives and attorneys where necessary.

    The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working on corporate commercial matters, negotiating commercial contracts, and providing expert advice on contract law, regulatory compliance, and risk management. You will possess excellent negotiation and communication skills, be able to build and maintain solid working relationships on all levels, and have a high level of respect for confidentiality/discretion.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Drafting, reviewing, and approving commercial agreements, including contracts, MOUs, and other binding documents.
    • Providing strategic legal advice on corporate commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, due diligence investigations, and trademark, copyright, and design matters.
    • Overseeing the investigation of litigious matters, assessing the feasibility of proceeding with legal action, and consulting with business representatives and attorneys where necessary.
    • Facilitating dispute resolution and litigation process, including facilitating Court actions.
    • Pro-actively understanding and communicating pending legal changes/Acts that will affect the Company.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of relevant (post articles) experience in corporate commercial law.
    • Proven track record of working on corporate commercial matters and negotiating commercial contracts.
    • Knowledge and experience of contracts, NCA, CPA, POPIA, FICA, and tax legislation.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships on all levels.
    • High level of respect for confidentiality/discretion.
    • Sound business acumen.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
    • Lateral thinker with insight into commercial transactions.

    Estimated Salary: R850,000 - R1,200,000 per annum.

    Bonus or Profit Sharing: negotiable
