Job description
As an Import Controller, you will be responsible for import operations of the company and supporting the procurement.

Your primary duties will include coordinating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of goods, handling import documentation, and assisting in inventory management.

Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

Import Management:


  • Prepare and process import documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other relevant parties to ensure smooth importation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements.
  • Conduct financial anyalysis to optimise import expendidures and minimise costs.

Inventory Management:


  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by tracking incoming shipments and updating inventory systems accordingly.
  • Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure proper storage and handling of imported goods.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with records.

Procurement:


  • Assist in sourcing and selecting suppliers/vendors based on quality, price, and delivery speed.
  • Generate purchase orders accurately and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and communicate effectively to resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Logistics Support:


  • Arrange transportation and logistics for imported goods, including coordinating with carriers for shipping schedules and delivery arrangements.
  • Monitor shipment statuses and proactively address any delays or issues to minimize disruptions.

Administrative tasks:


  • Maintain organized procurement and import documentation, including records of purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documents.
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities, import volumes, and inventory levels as required.
  • Assist in other administrative tasks related to procurement and import operations as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in supply chain management, logistics, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in import, procurement or logistics roles is required
  • Knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, and international trade documentation is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work efficiently in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
