Our client is an International Mining House where an opportunity exists for a dedicated, hardworking, and enthusiastic and results driven individual to join one of their mines based in Namibia.

They are looking for an experienced Finance Controller.

    Duties and Responsibilities
  • The incumbent is responsible to effectively plan, direct, and coordinate all financial related activities of the mine.
  • Ensure good control over capex spend/financial modelling for the mine.
  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate finance control systems, policies and procedures. Specific focus will be on ensuring governance and compliance.
  • Drive overall Cost control, as well as department budgets, ensuring efficient and cost effective service delivery.
  • Ensure proper accounting of all capital expenditure, timely capitalization and depreciation of assets.
  • Prepare project proposals with the help of various financial modelling tools and develop sound recommendation for management decisions.
  • Preparations of forecasts, actual expenditure, cash flow and variance analysis.
  • Participate and value add during contract negotiations and contract finalisation.
  • Maintain complete control over vendor payment, hygiene of Capital work inprogress and fixed assets accounts.
  • Responsible for smooth conduct of both internal and external audit

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent) e.g. B Com
  • Highly advantageous: Qualified CA
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience, with minimum of 3 years' experience at management level in a mining / construction / projects environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable Namibian legislation.
  • Driver's licence.
