Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organization supporting public sector health services.

MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support.


MatCH Institute NPC is looking to fill the following Position under the APACE Grant

Nurse Advisor x 1 - (Ref: 458)

Main purpose of the job


The incumbent will support teams providing technical support and direct service delivery to the Department of Health and sites in the district.

The incumbent will contribute to the provision of the district approach to all aspects of quality improvement in clinical care.


Key performance areas

  • Implement the defined QI Programme within allocated areas.
  • Deliver and address issues of quality in health systems including clinical services such as adolescent and pediatric HIV treatment, HIV wellness Programmes, tuberculosis screening and care, screening for malnutrition, nurseinitiated and managed ART, PMTCT, pediatric diagnosis, linkage to care and treatment and sexual and reproductive health.
  • Integrate preventative health services and awareness of social determinants of health.
  • Provide onsite mentorship to healthcare workers on quality improvement principles, pediatric NIMART, IMCI and disclosure and adherence counselling.
  • Using quality improvement methodology to monitor and review the implementation and progress of the Programme.
  • Conduct File audits in line with quality improvement.
  • Review challenges and achievements and institute corrective action.
  • Compile and disseminate reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Integrate feedback from reports into Programme implementation plan and subsequent progress reports.
  • Identify training needs of staff for Programme implementation (Internal and external), develop training plans and conduct onsite training sessions at health facilities.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and support.
  • Participate in ongoing mentorship Programmes.
  • Establish a baseline needs assessment for allocated area/health facilities.
  • Plan a tailored approach in conjunction with Programme/project manager/project coordinator and technical experts taking into consideration the needs and priorities of the area.
  • Develop a project plan and timeline for addressing the identified needs and priorities.

Required minimum education and training

  • Diploma in General Nursing (with specialization)
  • Nimart Certificate

Professional Body

  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council

Minimum work experience

  • 4 years' work experience in a public health setting

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

  • Postgraduate degree.
  • Certification in HIV Management and dispensing.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills.
  • Attention to detail and able to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Systems and Data Management.
  • Experience working in a donor funded environment/NGO projectbased organization. o Valid Driver's license and willingness to travel
  • Available to commence work immediately
