As the
People Services Officer based at
Zibulo you will be expected to coordinate the delivery of all people and payroll data services in an effective and efficient manner whilst supporting the timeous identification and resolution of people queries.

Thungela Resources [Thungela means "to ignite" in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production.

It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production.

Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.


As the
People Services Officer you will coordinate and execute the maintenance of people (employees and contractors) and organisational data on our people systems i.e., SAP, SF.

You will also need to coordinate and execute transactional activity at the operation as per calendars and standards i.e., payroll data, benefit administration.


More of your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering correct payroll calculations including allowances, production bonuses, overtime, awards etc
  • Coordinating the consistent, error free payroll runs and payment of employees and authorising the process for all payroll inputs and manage any issues that have been escalated
  • Coordinating the payroll checking process in line with the payroll calendar and the required standards
  • Ensuring that all employee data is securely stored in the correct format and in the right place
  • Coordinating the endtoend service delivery process, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of employee queries, requests, and concerns
  • Coordinating the resolution of all employee queries and monitor compliance of query resolution to the required standard
  • Supporting process and data governance, change management, root cause analysis and process improvement opportunities
  • Identifying and escalating any data governance gaps i.e., data privacy, data quality issues, process deviations and opportunities for process improvements
  • Supporting the implementation and embedment of new processes, policies, and procedures
  • Delivering effective and timeous operational management reporting making use of standardized reporting frameworks
  • Delivering the required statistical and governance reporting aligned to the reporting calendar
  • Supporting the analysis and interpretation of people data to assist in the identification of issues, trends, and emerging risks
  • Assisting with the communication of all people services activities and changes to all onmine stakeholders
  • Contributing to process, system, and data design reviews, share operational practices and learnings
  • Collaboratively work with the People Systems Support team to manage new operational systems demands, in progress projects, and engagements for BAU support functionality
  • Supporting the proactive identification of potential / emerging risks related to the delivery of operational people services

Qualifications

  • Higher Certificate / National Diploma in Human Resources, Administration, or related discipline (NQF Level 5/6)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in human resources, specifically in a people services environment i.e. employee and payroll data
