Salary:
R200 - R400 per hour

One year contract position - March February 2024

(extension till December 2024 based on satisfactory performance)


Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business, or Finance is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the private sector in stakeholder engagement / relationship management
  • Relevant experience working in the field crop sector in EC and strong connections with sector players such as input and service providers, as well as local organizations
  • Strong understanding of smallholder crop farmers' operations and challenges
  • Understanding of the development sector around agriculture and smallholder farming operations
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs, including Excel and Word and communication platforms such as Teams
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Accuracy, attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Xhosa

Key Performance Areas:

  • Seeking a Consultant to engage with the farming market systems actors to achieve the project results
  • Typical stakeholders of the project are but not limited to:
  • Local small, medium and large-size input suppliers for crop fields
  • Mechanization service providers
  • Local chiefs
  • Municipal and regional Government
  • Local associations, cooperatives, and Farmer organizations
  • The position requires frequent engagement with project stakeholders
  • The position sometimes may require travel to the project office
  • The position is not office based and expects that the Consultant has a stable internet to perform the work as needed from their place of residence
  • The Consultant will be provided with a laptop and phone with minutes to use for businessrelated purposes
  • The Consultant is expected to operate their own vehicle to conduct the work (visit Farmers and existing and potential stakeholders)
  • The vehicle operating cost will be reimbursed for a maximum monthly mileage set by the company based on (AA) rates per kilometre in compliance with South Africa Revenue Services (SARS)
  • Facilitation (70 %):
  • Facilitate and maintain private and public stakeholder engagement
  • Identify and coordinate sales agreements for project lead Farmers with input suppliers, service providers, aggregators and end markets
  • Negotiate and coordinate with media to participate and broadcast project demonstration activities
  • Support the overall strategic direction of the project in collaboration with the project team
  • Project Management and Coordination (30%):
  • Recruit and work closely with the Project Players in terms of providing them with information and connecting them with input and output markets and capacitating them to become service providers
  • Oversee the demo preparation
  • Facilitate and coordinate relevant events in collaboration with the project team
  • Provide the technical updates

Job Types:
Full-time, Temp to perm

Contract length: 12 months


Education:


  • Bachelors (preferred)

Experience:


  • Degree in Economics, Business, or Finance: 4 years (preferred)
- private sector in stakeholder engagement: 10 years (preferred)
