    Job Title: General Manager

    We are seeking an experienced individual to join our client as a General Manager. The primary purpose of this role will be managing the operations of the business in Mozambique, according to company strategy, and in line with the growth of profits targets of the business.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee all staff and operations to ensure the company profit goals are achieved through various measures.
    • Manage operations with excellent and ethical client service.
    • Ensure sufficient skilled staff working efficiently to achieve company strategy and goals.
    • Implement short, medium, and long-term goals of the company as articulated by the Board.
    • Implement company strategy in Mozambique.
    • Develop business development plan that optimizes current markets and drives growth into new local markets at acceptable levels of profitability.
    • Take overall responsibility for maximizing identified business opportunities.
    • Manage key customer relationships.
    • Maintain sound corporate governance within the company by reporting regularly to the Group Managing Director.
    • Lead Mozambique's team, maintaining good relations with team members and driving team cohesion.
    • Drive team effectiveness and performance.
    • Evaluate and employ the right people to implement company strategy.
    • Have overall responsibility for Mozambique's revenue generation and profitability.
    • Ensure timeous and cost-effective delivery of stock.
    • Have overall responsibility for Mozambique's fixed and variable monthly costs.
    • Oversee implementation of warehouse policy for efficient storage, handling, and management of stock.
    • Formulate and implement strategies to achieve sales/growth targets.
    • Oversee Finance department's management of accounts and finances according to company policy and strategy.
    • Ensure Human Resources policies are adhered to in compliance with Internal Regulation Document, company Internal Policies, and Labour law.
    • Identify suitable talent to ensure effective succession management across key positions in Mozambique.
    • Perform regular branch visits to strengthen key relationships.
    • Continually implement company policies and procedures, making suggestions for change to improve company profitability and productivity.
    • Efficiently manage people across various locations.
    • Navigate Mozambique business environment.
    • Perform other tasks as required by the Group Managing Director and/or the Board of Directors.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Management, Commerce, or similar.
    • Minimum 10 years operational experience in a senior managerial role in a significant sub-Saharan Africa wholesale/retail business, ideally within Automotive and Trucking aftersales industry.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Insight into retail market dynamics (African and local markets).
    • Up-to-date with industry trends, developments, and initiatives.
    • In-depth understanding of sales processes within a retail environment.
    • Full command of English language, both written and spoken.
    • Full command of Afrikaans, both written and spoken (preferable).
    • Portuguese highly advantageous.
