Core Details and Responsibilities

This role is based in our Cape Town Office, in South Africa. As a Senior Associate, you will report to the Associate Director

  • Accounting & Finance. From a highlevel perspective, you will own all the client deliverables, including the development of the product, of the financial statement service line.
Your Daily Tasks

The following are the Tasks linked to the Core Responsibilities that will be expected as part of this role.

You will work as part of the wider financial accounting team and assist in the preparation of:


  • Financial statements for all Catalyst Accounting, Catalyst Fund Administration and Clearwater CFO clients.
  • Financial statements for additional adhoc
  • Own the deliverable process for this function and be accountable for the service offering
  • Assist with developing/customizing technology to produce a product that is scaleable
  • Carry out extensive research into different accounting standards and reporting requirements for entities that report under IFRS or US GAAP
  • Work with the fund administration team to service clients and to manage the data transformation out of fund accounting systems and into the financial statement reporting process
  • Support the Associate Director
  • Accounting & Finance as needed
  • Work with clients on any demand they may have that Catalyst can assist
  • Share insights to enable development of new processes and procedures that will create business efficiency and support delivery of client excellence in service
  • Maintain awareness of industry, regulatory, jurisdictional and other trends that could affect the business.
  • Contribute to the creation, development and implementation of new products and solutions to accommodate changing customer needs.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with operations staff, business users, project and implementation managers to achieve desired and elegant solutions.
Strategic Expectations

  • Share insights to enable development of new processes and procedures that will create business efficiency and support delivery of client excellence in service

  • Maintain awareness of industry, regulatory, jurisdictional, and other trends that could affect the business.
  • Contribute to the creation, development and implementation of new products and solutions to accommodate the businesses continuous changing needs.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with operations staff, business users, project, and implementation managers to achieve desired and elegant solutions.
Required Skills & Experience

  • Internationally recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA, CA)
  • Minimum 35 years' experience post accounting designation with Big 4 accounting firm
  • Experience auditing or preparing financial statements for investment related entities under both US GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with fund accounting software preferred
  • Expert level use of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Power Query, Power Automate
  • Fluent in English (writing & speaking).
  • Innovator & selfstarter with high energy and drive.
  • Fluent in English (writing & speaking).
