- All cash ups must balance with banking transactions.
- The drop safe must be locked at all times, with the key held by the Admin Controller. Cash floats must be checked regularly, and spare keys stored safely.
- Cashier balances must be verified after each cash up, with any discrepancies investigated and addressed promptly.
- The Admin Controller must maintain high standards of administration and procedures within the store, enforcing relevant disciplines as needed.
- Daily filing duties include: Cash Control File, Petty Cash File, Stock Control Files 1 & 2, Personnel File, and Internal Request file. All slips must be signed accordingly.
- Reports must be up-to-date, with daily attention given to Start of Day Reports.
- The Admin Controller authorizes all transactions at the 5A level.
- Lay-byes are the responsibility of both the Admin Controller and Cashiers, requiring regular checks and spot checks.
- The Admin Controller ensures regular RTS (Return to Sender) processing.
- Spot checks on Cashiers must be conducted regularly.
- Change control is a daily responsibility.
- Memos and correspondence are filed generally.
- Stock received and sent data is captured accurately.
- The back office area must be maintained in a clean condition.
- The Cash Desk area must also be kept clean, with returned merchandise placed back on the floor.
- The security of the back office and front cash desk is managed by the Admin Controller.
- Tags must be secured in the store if not attached to merchandise.
- Health & Safety standards must be met.
- Shrinkage prevention requires adherence to company processes and procedures.
- Cash Desk staff must receive customer service training.
- Clients must be assisted with enquiries and complaints.
- Customer Service principles must be applied daily in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
- Customer needs must be satisfied continuously, attracting new clientele.
- Performance and development of Cash Desk staff must be managed effectively.
- All procedures and policies must be followed, with disciplinary action taken when necessary.
- Staff time and attendance must be managed efficiently.
- A Matric Certificate.
- An NQF 5 Certificate in Retail/Business Administration.
- Computer literacy in Word and Excel.
- 2-5 years of experience in a relevant sales or cashier environment.
- Analytical Thinking.
