  • Purpose of the Job


The purpose of the Project Manager role is to ensure end-to-end project management of store development projects from project planning and/or initiation phases to implementation and relative ongoing maintenance phases pertaining to new stores and refurbishments.

This role requires knowledge of construction project management to execute on various store design plans or layouts, infrastructure specifications (i.e., plumbing, electrical, building, etc.) and ensure overall project delivery within agreed budget, scope and timelines.

This includes effective site management, whilst appointing contractors (and sub-contractors) and ensuring they deliver on agreed standards, quality and timelines.

This role supports the Senior Store Development Manager by communicating and providing reports on project stages, overview of challenges and recommended solutions, engagements with business stakeholders, continuous improvement and ad hoc responsibilities.


This nature of this role involves a lot of travelling to multiple project sites (with at least ±200KM distances between sites), and often requiring physical capacity to reach very high and low places (high ceilings, roof climbing, etc) with the use of proper and safe equipment.

This includes doing hands on construction work (repairs and maintenance) where applicable.

  • Manage the endtoend project delivery of store developments projects from project initiation to implementation according to established store design plans, infrastructure specifications, and budgets.
  • Coordinate all project related activities including planning and scheduling of project phases, allocation of project resources and engagements with key business stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful project delivery within budget, scope and timeliness according to established quality standards.
  • Ensure effective administration (I.e., document management as invoices, quotes, contracts, etc.) throughout all aspects of the project, business stakeholders and contractors.
  • Create tender documents and appoint contractors and subcontractors for allocated work according to company policies and ensure successful delivery of contractor deliverables as per established timelines.
  • Collaborate with building managers and technical teams to ensure overall alignment of project objectives through effective communication.
  • Coordinate the revision to specifications and ensure that contractors, landlords, developer and onsite teams are fully aware of the changes to specifications.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health & Safety regulations (i.e., Personal Protective Equipment) on site.
  • Effectively manage all project resources and company equipment on site.
  • Manage and monitor contract performance onsite and support with architectural plans and guidance to relevant specifications, whilst ensuring adherence to project plans and driving project completion.
  • Plan and manage proper handover processes with relevant property business stakeholders and teams after project completion, including relevant merchandising.
  • Provide Ad Hoc handson technical maintenance support for various maintenance incidents.
  • Provide support on relevant insurance claims related processes.
  • Qualifications
  • Matric or related (essential).
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Civil Engineering or similar (desirable)
  • Project Management certificate (essential)
  • Experience
- + 4 years' experience in building construction project management with solid experience managing multiple end-to-end project delivery - (essential).

  • Experience
in retail construction environment - (desirable)

  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Solid proficiency in MS Office 365 with welldeveloped Excel skills (essential).
