Role Purpose


The purpose of the Agile Coach role is to support, empower and enable teams to adopt agile practices and ways of working.

The Agile Coach plays an integral role in enabling the adoption of an agile culture across the business delivery teams and the business overall, empowering teams to be more flexible, transparent, and efficient while promoting an environment and culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and innovation.

The Agile Coach works at a tactical level with individual members of agile teams, enhancing their proficiency in executing agile processes while infusing a real agile understanding from the top down.


Role Description

  • Assess the current state of processes/practices and support required and work closely with the Practice Lead to define strategies and approaches for transitioning to agile practices and enabling the adoption of an agile mindset.
  • Develop and communicate a vision on enterprise agility.
  • Enable the transition to agile by empowering teams to develop an agile mindset through integrated and robust training, coaching, techniques and approaches.
  • Develop and facilitate training to enable teams to transition to an agile way of working. Includes delivering on demand training on specialistic topic such as user stories, refinement etc
  • Teach, mentor and train agile teams, supporting them to stay on track with agile techniques and finetuning approaches as needed to ensure business goals are being met.
  • Coach, mentor and train Scrum Masters and Product Owners.
  • Coach and train management in agile values, principles, practices and servantleadership.
  • Facilitate scrum events as required to enable teaching opportunities.
  • Facilitate 'big retrospectives' (retrospectives on nonteam level, e.g., project, program or department).
  • Set up team policies to support agilebased approaches.
  • Define the measurement system by way of identifying relevant metrics.
  • Regularly assess and measure the maturity of the agile team, and agile department
  • Continuously and proactively review and improve existing training material.
  • Facilitate change in new ways of working, working with multiple stakeholders to setup and maintain a structured way to continuously improve the teams and product development flow.
  • Suggest new and improved ways of contracting with vendors and customers.
  • Promote and advocate a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and ensuring delivery.
  • Support the development of a community of practices for Agile roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, and Product Manager)
