Position Title:
Senior Lawyer (Cape Town) - Agricultural Investments

Company Overview:

A respected Investment Manager is looking for a Senior Lawyer with experience in corporate finance to join their dynamic team.

The individual should be an admitted attorney and a member of the Law Society.

A keen interest in financial services, investments and agricultural industries is required as this role is pivotal in capturing investment opportunities in the agricultural industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify investment opportunities within the agriculture industry and manage the implementation of the investment deal from start to finish


Time split as follows:

• Capital Raising (40%)
• Involved in capital raising efforts.
• Foster relationships with potential investors.
• Assist with the development of strategies for effective fundraising in the agricultural sector.
• Legal/Deal structuring (20%)
• Manage the legal aspects of deal structuring for agricultural investments.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Listing compliance/Spoke person (10%)
• Oversee listing compliance matters related to agricultural investments.
• Act as a spokesperson for listed agricultural investments.
• Administration (10%)
• Handle administrative tasks related to investment projects.
• Ensure documentation and processes align with regulatory standards.
• Investment Management (20%)
• Assist with the implementation of investment deals from inception to completion.
• Monitor ongoing agricultural investments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• B.Com (Law) / LLB / BAcc. LLB.
• Admitted Attorney and a member of the Law Society.
• Corporate finance experience, incl. transactional due diligence experience.
• Experience in the corporate commercial departments of toptier law firms with a focus on mergers and acquisitions of listed and unlisted companies in sectors such as private equity and agribusinesses will be advantageous.
