Job Summary

The Senior Specialist:

Quality Assurance within Group Compliance is responsible for the planning, execution and management of the quality assurance reviews in accordance with the QA Assurance Methodology that is aligned to the Globally Accepted Compliance Practice (GACP) Framework and relevant policies, procedures and other quality standards.

The Specialist will be responsible for the independent assessment of the Group Compliance assurance activities to ensure adherence to compliance policies and frameworks.

The role is uniquely positioned in that it provides insights into the practices of the Compliance function and offers a unique opportunity to spearhead and improve the overall quality of the Group Compliance practices.


Job Description:


  • Perform key administrative and managerial activities for the QA Compliance department to assist the Head of QA
  • Utilisation of indepth knowledge of the QA Methodology to design, manage and report on the QA reviews performed to the Head of QA who will report on results and thematic issues to the Head of Compliance.
  • Provide effective feedback to the team on an ongoing basis during the QA process
  • Engage with stakeholders on progress of the QA activities
  • Responsible for QA for adherence with the Group Assurance Methodology and associated templates
  • Develop and provide training to all M&T, FACT and Advisory teams for new joiners and existing team members on a regular basis
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the M&T, FCAT and Advisory teams through additional on the job training, and guidance sessions
  • On an ongoing basis and through review of deliverables, provide realtime coaching to the M&T and Advisory teams and feedback to the Heads of Compliance on any corrective actions or process enhancements identified during reviews
  • Develop, maintain, and obtain key M&T, FCAT and Advisory metrics to measure the quality and timeliness of the M&T, FCAT and Advisory activities and other deliverables to enable reporting by the Head of QA
  • Provide a holistic view on all M&T, FCAT and Advisory activities performed across AGL through assisting the Head of QA in report consolidation on the outcomes on monthly basis included status of actions as well as reviews in progress
  • Ensure an effective planning process including assisting the Head of QA in the facilitation of the completion of the QA Compliance plan
  • Assisting the Head of QA in the coordination of any Group-Wide QA Compliance activities, incl. System Enhancements and Reviews, etc.
  • Seek opportunities to continuously improve the department including identifying areas to automate and streamline existing processes
  • Bring and advocate for a systematic, disciplined, riskbased approach to both QA Compliance and Compliance Assurance activity by being an integral part of the review planning process
  • Build effective and trusting relationships with the Heads of M&T, FCAT and Advisory teams and other lines of assurance stakeholders
  • Assist the Head of the QA department in keeping current on changes and emerging best practices of the QA profession; undertake research into other emerging issues and opportunities
  • Demonstrate professional skepticism and personal accountability
  • Fulfilment of any adhoc activities as required
Qualifications and Experience


Essentials:

  • Professional Auditing Certification
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CISA or equivalent
  • B Degree in a Commercial, Regulatory or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or higher
  • 7 years' experience in riskbased auditing, technology riskbased auditing, risk management or risk or control activities in a regulatory discipline
  • Banking experience gained through auditing or in line management
  • Experience in the management of a team
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet

Preferred:

  • Experience in Financial Services Industry or Audit Firm Experience
