    **Job Description**

    The purpose of this role is to perform senior operator duties within the Minerals Processing division, focusing on comminution. Responsibilities and authorities related to post requirements are outlined below.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Conduct routine and non-routine tests following established procedures, modifying them as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
    2. Complete tasks within allocated time and plan work for operators to meet overall service goals.
    3. Report any infringements or non-compliances by laboratory staff members regarding allocated work, punctuality, or other misdeeds to the metallurgist.
    4. Interpret and calculate comminution data, determining specimens' requirements.
    5. Set up and conduct independent comminution test-work.
    6. Perform all associated sample preparation and mineral processing test-work upstream of comminution test-work.
    7. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    8. Perform additional reasonable tasks assigned by direct line manager.

    Specific Authorities:

    1. Cease equipment use deemed hazardous or enter environments without necessary knowledge and protection, reporting situations to higher authority.
    2. Stop work affecting service quality (integrity), reporting situations to higher authority.
    3. Initiate formal improvement requests when system deviations occur, improvements are identified, or non-conformity is found.
    4. Refuse work that may harm the environment in an imminent and serious manner, reporting such situations.

    Qualifications:

    1. Senior certificate (Matric).

    Experience:

    1. Minimum 5-10 years' experience in minerals processing comminution.

    Competencies:

    1. Ability to follow written instructions precisely.
