- Work of this class involves planning and supervising the activities of employees engaged in the operation and repair of equipment such as conveyor belts, moving equipment, filtration systems, electrical systems and depot infrastructure.
- The incumbent coordinates the allocations of resources, ensuring the proper maintenance of all machinery.
- Training employees, sourcing and contacting contract companies to replace incapacitated items, and maintaining daily equipment logs.
- The position allows substantial independence in order to keep maintenance and engineering projects on schedule;
- Work is intermittently reviewed by the Business Manager through verbal discussions and cost reviews.
- The incumbent is responsible for providing cost estimates and justification for major repairs and modifications, while the Business Manager makes the final decision on machinery replacement and changes in department equipment policy.
