- Responsible for the mechanical maintenance and operation of the Power Generation section of the plant (incl. all boilers, air compressors, power generation turbines and all auxiliary machinery).
- Provide technical support to operational and maintenance foremen to optimize the existing installed plant and machinery.
- Carry out technical investigations and develop, and where necessary implement, specific improvement projects to optimize plant operational parameters, energy parameters and deliver workplace safety improvement initiatives.
- Assist in preparing Capital motivation documentation for capital funding.
- Manage approved capital and maintenance projects within area of responsibility.
- Ensure legal compliance in terms of OHS Act for area of responsibility.
- Tertiary Qualification, either BSc or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years plant experience in the sugar industry or a relevant engineeringenvironment.
- Being in the possession of or working towards a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC)is preferable. The
- Implementation of sound maintenance strategies in a production (preferably sugar)environment.
- General computing skills
- Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Working knowledge of OHS Act, NOSA and ISO
