    Job Title: Product Designer

    About the Role:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Designer to join our team in Ottery, Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing industry-leading artefacts and accessories for IBC liners and container liners.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 3 years' experience in design for injection moulding, with a proven track record of designing injection moulded parts that have gone into production.
    • A tertiary qualification in Industrial Design or a relevant Engineering field, such as Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
    • An excellent understanding of the process of tooling up for injection moulding, including design for manufacturability and cost-effective solutions.
    • A good understanding of the injection moulding conversion process and its implications on product design.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance competing requirements and drive forward balanced solutions that meet mission objectives.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and present results effectively.
    • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, with experience in data management and analysis.
    • A comprehensive understanding of design principles, including ergonomics, aesthetics, and functionality.

    Portfolio Requirements:

    • A portfolio of relevant design material, showcasing your skills and experience in design for injection moulding.
    • Samples of injection moulded parts designed by you, with accompanying native CAD files.
    • An Excel spreadsheet demonstrating your data management and analysis abilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • To interrogate requirements and identify design drivers, using your expertise in design for injection moulding.
    • To develop high-quality design specifications that support efficient risk management, balancing design cost, CAPEX, and material cost.
    • To collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to identify optimal solutions, leveraging your technical expertise and knowledge of advanced CAD techniques.
    • To plan and conduct critical evaluations, presenting results and leading with recommendations to inform design decisions.
