Responsibilities:


Preparing a patient for theatre:
Assist in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Verify patient identity, surgical site, and relevant documentation.
Provide pre-operative education and support to patients and their families.

Scrubbing in theatre:
Follow aseptic techniques to ensure sterile conditions in the operating theatre.
Assist with surgical scrubbing and gowning.
Hand instruments and other necessary items to the surgical team during procedures.

Floor nurse in theatre:
Provide direct patient care during surgical procedures.
Monitor vital signs and assist with anesthesia administration.
Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.

Ensuring sterility and preparation of the operating theatre:Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the operating theatre.
Prepare and organize surgical equipment, drapes, and instruments.
Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure proper disposal of waste.

Sluice room and clean store management:Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sluice room and clean store.
Follow appropriate procedures for cleaning, disinfecting, and storing instruments and equipment.

Administrative and record-keeping duties:Accurately document patient information, surgical procedures, and other relevant data.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
Maintain confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information.


Drug register:
Properly manage and record the use of medications in the theatre.
Follow established protocols for drug administration, storage, and disposal.

Patient dressings and wound care:
Assist in dressing changes and wound care post-surgery.
Monitor and assess wound healing progress.
Provide appropriate patient education regarding wound care and follow-up instructions.

Assist with clinical work in the front office section:
Support the front office section with clinical tasks when not engaged in theatre activities.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth workflow and efficient patient care.


Requirements:

• Active and valid nursing license, fully registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Previous experience in a similar healthcare setting, in theatre. (2 Years)
• Excellent clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to show compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current best practices in nursing.

Salary:
R12, R22,500.00 per month
