Hands-on experience in complex national project management, building long-term relationships with clients, develop and manage multi-facet budgets, utilisation of performance data, and the ability to engage and manage a team to deliver programme results to ensure high customer satisfaction is essential.

Summary of the job:

This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled individual to head up one of our flagship business acceleration programmes.

This high-profile programme identifies, and scales promising South African Enterprises and ultimately seeks to resolve the burning challenges of poverty, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable job creation.

The programme manager will lead, project manage and continually improve the programme, working alongside the SME support team (mentor, training and development, media, and access to market) to successfully grow the enterprises and make a lasting and visible impact in the economy.


Job duties:


  • Programme Management in small business development sector
  • Design, planning & implementation of SME acceleration initiative, including risk management to deliver project outcomes (KPIs)
  • Project & Stakeholder Relationship Manager liaison & building relationships with clients, partners & funders.
  • Team leadership inspire and manage a diverse team
  • Financial Project Management budget development and project financial planning
  • Contract Management: identification, contracting and management of part time consultants.
  • Agile Project Management work with agile team to deliver on projects.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: oversee tracking and analysis of project performance.
  • Project Administration: including requisite reporting for programme, department & projects
- internally & for external stakeholders.

  • Support with Strategic Communications sharing / contributing to content stemming from projects.

Job requirements and experience:


  • Tertiary degree in Project management, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics or related
  • 7+ years Project management with excellent organisational skills, delivering project outcomes and managing cross functional teams and performance management abilities.
  • Knowledge and achievement in the field of entrepreneurship & SME acceleration
  • Financial understanding demonstrated budget management and business planning.
  • Innovative and forwardthinking solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent spoken, written and interpersonal communication.
  • Leadership, confident, ambitious, and forwardthinking
  • Advanced computer skills and enthusiasm for technology including MS Office Suite and effective project management tools essential
  • Agile Project Management advantageous
  • Entrepreneurial / own business experience/ understanding of the small business within the township economy advantageous.
