Open-pit mining is likely to run to and preparations are already under way to convert to underground mining, which is expected to extend the life of the mine to 2046.
The Responsibilities of the Metallurgist - Process assurance is to provide assurance on the treatment process to the treatment Plant Section Managers through the provision of Quality Data and testwork.
This includes coordinating /overseeing the collection and treatment of samples as a data source along with the assessment of the quality of the system-generated data to provide an overall quality assurance view of the treatment process.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health, safety, security and risk management standards and leading practices in own area of responsibility
._ Appointment)_* - Ensure all work is planned, scheduled, executed and monitored in accordance with Quality Assurance Plan, Ore Processing objectives, technical standards and procedures including statutory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage sampling operations in the Treatment plant and Red Area with the Laboratory team through planning and coordination with the relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate in implementing initiatives to optimise plant performance.
- Ensuring optimal resource utilisation and the sustainable achievement of efficiency targets._ _
- Analyse Quality data for the processing plant, reporting and investigating barriers to effective quality performance, causes of delays and deviations assist in ensuring mitigating plans are prepared and implemented._ _
- Identify and initiate process improvement projects to ensure that quality is maintained and improved upon.
- Stakeholder management: liaison with maintenance, operational & support function personnel to implement plant optimisation projects***
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Grade 12 certificate or relevant NQF level 4 qualifications.
- BSc Engineering or B-Tech (Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy).
- 2 3 yrs. Laboratory or Plant Supervisory experience
- Data analytics is a requirement
- Modelling or simulation work will be an advantage
- Driver's License Code 08
SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:
- Technical knowledge of mining operations with diamond processing plant experience.
- Plant Modules or completed training as MIT
- ISO 17025 Course
- Security Procedure and Policy indepth understanding
- SAP training (inhouse)
- Knowledge of Laboratory processes and standards
- Knowledge of Security processes and standards
- Analysing and interpreting of information.
- Process modelling & simulation.
- Laboratory Statistical Method Validation
- Supervision of multiple team members
- Planning, coordinating and prioritizing.
- Project management.
- Use of Laboratory equipment for Quality assurance
- Development of audits and sampling programmes
- Budgeting
