Our company, based in Parktown in Johannesburg, seeks to employ a suitable Accounts Clerk to support the Accounts Team and to contribute to the efficiency of the Team.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Capturing payments and / or invoices on the accounting system both accurately and timeously after verifying supporting documents for validity, accuracy and completeness
  • Capturing journal entries on the accounting system both accurately and timeously
  • Making General Ledger entries and ensuring the accuracy of all transactions
  • Reconciling records of all banking transactions
  • Assembling deposits and maintaining accurate records relating to accounts receivable
  • Bringing books to trial balance in preparation for other Team member(s) to create financial statements
  • Reconciling or noting and reporting any discrepancies found in records
  • Reviewing, investigating, and correcting any errors and inconsistencies that may be found in financial entries, documents and / or reports
  • Assisting the Accounts Team and / or Management of the company in dealing with the accounts department's workflow and processes
  • Timeously responding to queries related to all financial transactions (accurate and relevant responses)
  • Recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the accounts department and the services it renders
  • Ensuring the completion of assigned tasks in line with established deadlines
  • Dealing with sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity, in compliance with the POPI Act and other relevant legislation
  • Performance of general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones and dealing with routing correspondence, as and when required
  • Collation and capturing of information on relevant templates, as and when required
  • Complying with statutory, as well as company policies, procedures and regulations
  • This role may require some overtime / afterhours work from time to time and as and when the need may aris

Desired Experience & Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 and / or equivalent qualification
Years of experience in a similiar role

  • Driver's licence and own transport essential
  • Computer literate (MS Office) with good knowledge and skills in MS Excel
  • A working knowledge of Sage Evolution will be an added advantage
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
